Doctor’s CarbRite Diet Sugar Free Bar, Cookie Dough, 2-Ounce Bars

I purchased these as a midday snack for my fiancĂ©, who works long shifts with only one mealtime break. He says that they help satisfy his hunger and eats smaller meals because of this. Also, the nutrition facts are probably the best that I have seen when researching. He ordered the cookie dough and states that he really enjoys them. He was surprised that they were so tasty for a “diet” bar. I like the fact that they are very low in calories, fat, and sugar. They also have a good amount of protein in them.

The “CarbRite Cookie Dough Bars” are a good choice for those seeking low carb snacks. Being a type 2 diabetic, I am always looking for low carb products that taste good. Here are my observations:

Pros:

+ Good Tasting; these are not candy bars, but they taste much better than most other “low carb” bars I have tried

+ Low Carb; only 1 NET carb, but a lot of the other carbs come from Maltitol (see “Cons”, below)

+ High Protein; 20g per bar

+ Very Filling; unlike a lot of other low carb snacks, these bars are actually fairly filling (likely due to the high protein content)

Cons:

- Contains Maltitol, which can cause “gastric distress” in some people – start of with small amounts if you don’t know it will affect your system

Misc:

* 195 Calories per bar

* Chewy Consistency

Overall, these bars are a satisfying low carb snack choice that have a good flavor and do not significantly impact my blood sugar levels.

I received a sample 5 pack of these bars and this flavor was good. I wish it was a stronger cookie dough flavor, but its a nice change from chocolate items. I find these taste the best cold from the fridge. I’ll buy this flavor again

I’m a little dissapointed that the taste isn’t stronger but the nutritional facts are pretty good for a low-carb protein bar. Also, there are a few chocolate chips in the bar so it’s not just plain “cookie dough” as the Doctor’s named it.

-Only 1g net carb!

-Good post workout food or on-the-go breakfast

-Tastes ok fresh or frozen

-Not a lot of flavor but it definitely doesn’t taste bad

It is hard to find the perfect Bar but this will do for now.

The Bar I’d like would have the following characteristics

- high protein

- low Fat

- low sugar or no sugar

- around 200 calories

- good taste

- low price

This Bar has most of these qualities except it does have

a higher sugar alcohol level than I would like.

I have used this product for years and am satisfied, obviously.
