Home decorations / Themes – 50′s/60′s?

I am moving into a new home soon and is pondering the decor/themes. I know I want to decorate a room (maybe master bed / bath) in the old hollywood glamour 1950′s/1960′s era… but i also want to tie in the rest of the house (living room, kitchen, guest room) without going overboard, but without there being totally different themes in each room. Any ideas of decor / themes to make everything tie in nicely? Thanks in advance

use a variety of colors, like black and white for 50′s.
in the kitchen you could use a diner theme.
the key is to use modern furniture with unique angles to display the style at that time period (like the design of the cars in the 50s and 60s), and use the colors from the 50s and 60s in a contemporary up to date way. Search cottage stores, vintage online stores anything similar.
