~Girly* asked:

You are folding origami cranes that will be used as decorations at a wedding. if you make cranes for 1 hour whithout a break, you can make 40 cranes. During a 3 hour period, you make 100 cranes. How much time did you spend not making cranes? explain your reasoning.

me and my friend worked it out and got, they took a 30 min break.

is that correct?

Yes 100/40=2.5 so they spent 2.5 hours workin

Here’s my solve for it:
First we need to find how many time it takes to make a single crane. So we do 40/60 (60 being an hour in minutes)
which gives us 0.666…
So now we do 0.666… * 180 = 119.88
So whitout a break you should have made 119.88 cranes, that means you took a break the time you would have made 19.88, so we do 19.88 * 0.666… = 13.24
So I would say you took a break of 13.24 minutes. (Almost 13:15 minutes)

As I don’t know what your reasoning is I can’t tell you if I’m wrong or if you are.

Well maybe you just ran out of paper after you got to 100! But I think 30mins break is about right.
