How can I hook my PS3 to a portable DVD player?

My DVD player has the both left and right audio inputs and the video input, ive changed the setting to input from dvd and it still doesn’t work.
Im using the cable that came w/ my ps3 not hdmi.

just use a composite cable not component. I think the one that came with the palystation 2 works fine. Make shure your portable DVD player is on input mode.
