The internet is a good option, but I would start locally by setting up a booth at the local flea market or farmers market and every fair or craft show that comes to your area. Go in 50/50 on a booth rental with someone else that makes crafts or a local jewelry shop or candle-maker and see how well you do, then network with other vendors and ask how they have become so successful. Meeting people at fairs and craft shows is really fun too.

I sold my crafts at street festivals for a few years…Most towns have a yearly celebration of their history, and allow vendors to set up on “Main Street” to sell hand made crafts….Within 50 miles of my home were at least 25 festivals each year, and I sold a lot of crafts at these…..You have to register, and pay a fee to sell, but the exposure is great, and there are a large number of shoppers……….

Go to Etsy.com and see if this is an avenue that could help you. The exposure is unbelievable.

I’d definitely go ebay (depending on how much your postage would be of course) and craft fairs. Most small, local craft fairs don’t charge too much either.

You might want to check out these pages at my site. My site is primarily about polymer clay, but much of the info on the “business” pages would apply to any craft:
…and photographing items when necessary:
P.S. Offering to do at least somewhat custom work, if you’re not already, could bring in more customers too.
Best of luck!

Etsy.com definitely!
I sell pincushions and I’ve made over $1K since JULY! On pincushions!
I’ve had some incredible exposure and I get linked on all kinds of sites. It’s great! Over 100K stores of all handmade there! Biggest site of it’s kind!

You may also want to do some research into the shops and businesses that are in your area.
In one smaller city where I used to live, the town was very strong in artisan craft, and not only did many of the coffee shops and boutiques offer artisan corners where local artists and craftspeople could display their wares for consignment sale, but we also had galleries which would rotate local artists every few weeks, and a shop dedicated entirely to goods made within the city!
The nice part about consignment and local galleries is that you are able to display your work to the public without having to be there (selling) every moment of the day. You can return to your studio and continue creating.
Talk to other stores in the area and see if you can put your pieces in their storefront windows as part of their display. Many businesses (especially paper/art and book) will need shelving to display their wares, and having your shelves in the public eye will help create interest in your work, and get your name out there!
Make sure that you have some business cards printed up, and place them with your work, in the gallery, or inside the store. Keep them on-hand always, and don’t be afraid to hand them out to people who seem interested in your craft. You never know who may be a potential customer.
Best of luck to you, and your burgeoning business!

You may want to consider starting your own website and posting photographs online so you have a place to direct people to (although Etsy is a great way to have an online presence without the web hosting costs). It looks really professional when you have your own website URL and they typically cost about $10/year. You can also forward your website address to another site you have your crafts on like Etsy or Flickr (though you should probably check with their rules on whether they’re okay with that) — it will look great on your cards, as well as having an email like instead of a hotmail or gmail email address. It will make you look bigger and more established than you are!
I do my web hosting through Yahoo and have a merchant starter account so people can purchase directly off my site. It costs about $40/month, but with your work, you could just do a simple website where you can post photos of your work and contact information so they can purchase directly from you rather than off your site. This would save you money from the get go.
Best of luck!
