Is it customary for guests to take their christmas stocking home with them? ?

I bought these really great stockings this year. They were a little pricey, but I needed nice ones for decorations and to fill for my guests. One of my guests took their stocking home with them along with the gifts that were inside! Is this customary? Should I have said something?

if someone GAVE me a stocking with presents in it, i would more than likely assume the stocking was mine, too. like when you wrap a present in a bag or something, you dont take the bag back after the person opens the gift!
