Is it safe to use string lights in the home year round? (The tag says 90 days max)?

I like using the plain white or soft gold ones as accents in my home, but I just noticed the tag that reads “90 days max.” Does this mean you have to throw out the lights and replace them every 90 days? (The lights I strung around my mirrors and floral decorations are used every day for about 4 or 5 hours.)

Quite a few houses here in Michigan keep there lights up all year round.
The important thing to do is to make sure ALL of the connections are very well insulated adn unplugged from the electrical source. BUT be sure you take them down from trees and bushes–too much temptation for animals to gnaw at them.
You will, of course, have to check them very very carefully when you go to turn them back on.
What the warning means is to not use them over 90 days as in lit up.
Myself, that seems to sound a bit too much like work and would be easier to restring them next year.

I use the plain white ones around my artificial ficus tree year round and have never had a problem other than having to replace them when they burn out. You should get a good long life out of your lights if you are only using them 4 to 5 hours a day.
