The book is well-written and an easy read. The authors provide a good overview and many tips, warnings and advice about starting and running your own business as a woman. I would have liked to have seen more specific information–The things they brought up are things I already know need to be done but I was looking for the HOW. I realize it probably wouldn’t have been as entertaining of a read had it gone into deeper detail with the nuts and bolts. Overall a good book and not a bad place to start if you are wondering if running a business is for you. IF you already know you want to start the business and are looking for a guide on how exactly to do it, then I’d look elsewhere. If you know of such a resource I would love the suggestion.

This gives a pretty good overview of what it is like to start your own business, makes it understandable, and has real life stories and interviews. I felt like a learned a lot from this book. You may need to read it multiple times to get all the information soaked into your brain!

“A Girl’s Guide to Starting Your Own Business” is an excellent book for women considering the exciting but intimidating task of starting a business. It is full of practical, nitty-gritty advice and information on how to launch and maintain a business (for example: researching before you start, writing a business plan, obtaining funding if needed, branding your company, hiring and firing employees…). It’s also a fun and easy read full of inpiring stories.
