What are some inexpensive ways I can make my home feel like “Fall”?

I love decorating for the seasons and Holidays, it just feels homey and relaxed. As a college student, I sure need a place to relax, but I also am very tight on money. What are some budget friendly ways I can prepare my home for the Fall Season? I already have last year’s Halloween decorations, but those won’t go up until October. I want some festive Fall feeling to get me through Thanksgiving before Christmas decorations go up.

Thanks. =)

I am a college student who loves to decorate too! LOL…
You need to check the local discount/dollar stores to see what they have for fall. You can also buy small bags of Indian corn and pumpkins to display in glass bowls and vases. In the craft section you should be able to find fake leaves or fall floral arrangements to display in vases as centerpieces. Get a couple throws in colors such as burgandy or dark red to lay on the couch or loveseat (since they are basic you can use them year round). Also, check into buying a couple candles in scents such as pumpkin or apple pie (these are very fall scents). Good luck.

Gather some branches from outside (preferably dead ones that have already fallen and dont have leaves) Place them on mantle with candles or on a table against a wall. Also a couple colored leaves can be pretty (but harder to get at the beginning of fall) or pinecones are nice.
Buy some orange, brown and red (a couple shades) ribbon (crafts stores sell it and very inexpensive) and tie around chairs (making big bow in back) or vases or tie in bow and hang on a door or window. Buy fall colored milfoil (the fabric store), cut into large squares, place pinecones in the center and tie into ball. Finish with ribbon and place in large bowl or on mantle

This idea is really for next year….get some coloured leaves from Maples or other lovely trees and press them until they have dried. You can then arrange them in a cheap frame and you have a homemade picture of Fall leaves.
Candles, vases with glass beads/stones, scatter cushion can be found in “cheap shops’ and are a great way to add some colour no matter what the season. If budget permits a throw rug or 2 would also help.

Go for a walk and find pine cones.Usually you can find tons of them.If you dont have a basket,buy a cheap one. Also leaves of different colors…same idea. At the grocery store you can buy gourds.Small shelacked, what looks like mini squashes,in the produce area. They are inexpensive and always remind me of fall;maybe because it is the only time of year they come out :) Uummmmmm, you could place some candles in amongst the pine cones or leaves(safely obviously if you were burning the candles).maybe go to a second hand store and purchase(if you can find) colored scarf’s to tie around or throw over thing’s. I think im out of ideas. Not many but hope you maybe like one idea. Im a pine cone freak in the fall.And they look great in a basket.You could dab glue on the ends even and sprinkle orange shimmer or sparkles.I know you dont want your place to look like a kindergarden room,but you might be suprised.Plain pine cones are a good standby. Good luck
