Does this mean the warranty is three years from my original date of purchase or does the warranty clock reset when I get the replacement Xbox?

Your warranty is based on the manufacture date on the xbox this is how they know how old it is.

The answer the other user gave is incorrect. The warranty is from the actual date of purchase and not the date on the manufacture of the machine.
Also, I do believe the warranty does not reset so you probably do not get an additional 3 years. So for example if you got a launch console your warranty would expire sometime in 08. If you had a launch console fixed, you would not get an additional 3 years which would equal 6 total years if warranty.
I know for a fact that you get at minimum 90 days, but it is probably longer, maybe an extra year after service.
I just had to send mine in as well, and I got it back a few weeks ago… this was before they announced the 3 year warranty policy.
If you are still waiting on your 360 to come back, you can call
1-800-4-my-xbox and ask for an agent, then you can ask about the status of your console, and exactly how long after replacement you will get.

its starts when you registered it with xbox. i asked the same question when i sent mine in and had never registered my 360.the lady said that’s why they had to register my 360 to start the warranty process
